M. van der Meer<\/a> met g\u00e9n\u00e9reusement en ligne son volume Formation and Reformulation: The Redaction of the Book of Joshua in the Light of the Oldest Textual Witnesses<\/em> (Brill, 2004)<\/a>, qui est une \u00e9dition minor\u00e9e et r\u00e9vis\u00e9e de sa th\u00e8se de 2001. Il s’agit de d\u00e9terminer si les plus anciens t\u00e9moins du livre de Josu\u00e9 refl\u00e8tent un \u00e9tat de formation du livre ant\u00e9rieur au texte massor\u00e9tique. La r\u00e9ponse est globalement non, et l’auteur soutient que bon nombre des diff\u00e9rences proc\u00e8dent d’une volont\u00e9 de reformuler, harmoniser voire interpr\u00e9ter le texte.<\/p>\n

The main question has been that of the possibility of recovering part of the formation process of the book preceding the stage now standardised in the Masoretic text, on the basis of the oldest textual vitnesses to that book, 4QJoshuaa<\/sup> and LXX-Joshua. The answer to this question is a negative one, as far as those parts of Joshua are concerned that have been examined extensively in this study (Joshua 1, 5, and 8). The conclusion of this research must be, that these ancient witnesses do not attest to thre process of formation preceding the edition of the book of Joshua as preserved in MT, but to the preocess of interpretation, harmonisation and reformulation of that version (p.523<\/strong>). (…)\u00a0Of the textual witnesses, the version attested by MT is closest to the final stage of the literary formation of Joshua (p.533<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
