Il n&rsquo;y a rien de fort original sur le fond : pour lui comme pour ceux de son \u00e9poque, la connaissance doit mener \u00e0 la vertu. Il cite largement les auteurs classiques (pas toujours selon leur pens\u00e9e d&rsquo;ailleurs), et fait preuve d&rsquo;une certaine mod\u00e9ration vis-\u00e0-vis de la litt\u00e9rature profane.
