Si les sp\u00e9cialistes sont divis\u00e9s sur une d\u00e9finition exacte du proc\u00e9d\u00e9 et le d\u00e9compte de ses instances, il n&rsquo;a \u00e9chapp\u00e9 \u00e0 personne que l&rsquo;\u00e9vang\u00e9liste Jean introduit souvent les discours par des quiproquos illustrant l&rsquo;ignorance des chefs religieux juifs, des foules ou parfois m\u00eame des disciples. Mise en confidence du lecteur, incompr\u00e9hension de l&rsquo;auditeur, double sens, ironie&#8230; les artifices ne manquent et donnent un singulier relief aux propos du Christ, en permettant d&rsquo;extraire le lecteur des seules contingences bassement mat\u00e9rielles, en particulier <em>quand il s&rsquo;agit de discerner sa v\u00e9ritable identit\u00e9<\/em> (cf. si un homme ne <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>na\u00eet d&rsquo;eau et d&rsquo;Esprit<\/strong><\/span>, il ne peut entrer dans <strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">le royaume de Dieu<\/span><\/strong>.<br \/>\n6 Ce qui est <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">n\u00e9<\/span> <\/strong>de la <strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">chair<\/span> <\/strong>est <span #ff9900;\">souffle<\/span><\/strong> o\u00f9 il veut, et tu en entends le bruit ; <strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">mais tu ne sais d&rsquo;o\u00f9 il vient, ni o\u00f9 il va<\/span><\/strong>. En Jean 3.8, le jeu de mots porte ainsi sur le terme \u03c0\u03bd\u03b5\u1fe6\u03bc\u03b1 (<em>pneuma<\/em>) dont le sens (ex. <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2yQDkxv\">Danker 2009 : 289<\/a>) est le plus souvent <em><strong>esprit<\/strong><\/em> mais ici <strong><em>vent<\/em><\/strong>. Ce sens \u00ab\u00a0vent\u00a0\u00bb, rare dans le NT (autre instance Hb 1.7) puisqu&rsquo;on lui pr\u00e9f\u00e8re le terme \u1f04\u03bd\u03b5\u03bc\u03bf\u03c2, est par ailleurs bien attest\u00e9 (<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/details\/BaillyDictionnaireGrecFrancais\/page\/n1575\/mode\/2up\">Bailly 1576<\/a>). Jean ne s&rsquo;arr\u00eate pas l\u00e0, puisqu&rsquo;il utilise derechef un terme apparent\u00e9 pour le verbe <strong><em>souffler<\/em><\/strong>, <strong>\u03c0\u03bd\u1f73\u03c9<\/strong> (<em>pn\u00e9\u00f4<\/em>) : le couple <strong>pn<\/strong>euma\/<strong>pn<\/strong>\u00e9\u00f4 fait donc <strong><em>assonance<\/em><\/strong>, et constitue ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 dit <strong><em>epanadiplosis<\/em> <\/strong>consistant \u00e0 commencer et terminer un \u00e9nonc\u00e9 par un m\u00eame terme, ou un terme apparent\u00e9 (cf. <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/stream\/cu31924029277047#page\/n299\/mode\/2up\">Bullinger, <em>Figure of Speech Used in the Bible<\/em>, 1898 : 245-249<\/a>) : <strong>\u03c4\u1f78 \u03c0\u03bd\u03b5\u1fe6\u03bc\u03b1&#8230; \u03c0\u03bd\u03b5\u1fd6, le Souffle&#8230; souffle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\u00a0 \u00a0Le propos de J\u00e9sus consiste \u00e0 dire : <strong>pour entrer dans le royaume de Dieu, il faut na\u00eetre de nouveau (Jn 3.5)<\/strong>. Ce faisant un <em>premier jeu de mots<\/em> consiste \u00e0 cr\u00e9er une ambigu\u00eft\u00e9 sur les deux sens du terme grec <strong>\u1f04\u03bd\u03c9\u03b8\u03b5\u03bd<\/strong>, <em><strong>de nouveau<\/strong><\/em> ou <em><strong>d&rsquo;en-haut<\/strong><\/em>. La discussion qui suit, propre \u00e0 expliciter la doctrine en jeu, s&rsquo;articule donc autour de cette technique du malentendu, qui est servie par un<em> deuxi\u00e8me jeu de mots<\/em> (\u03c0\u03bd\u03b5\u1fe6\u03bc\u03b1, <strong><em>esprit<\/em><\/strong> ou <strong><em>vent<\/em><\/strong>), possible \u00e9galement en h\u00e9breu (<strong>\u05e8\u05d5\u05bc\u05d7\u05b7<\/strong>).
