Ce jour eschatologique \u00e9tait bien connu, de sorte que la seule \u00e9vocation de \u00ab\u00a0ce jour-l\u00e0\u00a0\u00bb (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u05d1\u05d9\u05d5\u05dd \u05d4\u05d4\u05d5\u05d0<\/span>) \u00e9tait suffisante pour le d\u00e9signer (<strong>Isa 2.11, Amo 8.9<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\u00a0 \u00a0L&rsquo;expression est pass\u00e9e dans le Nouveau Testament sous des formes diverses. La plus fr\u00e9quente est \u00ab\u00a0jour de\/du Seigneur\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u1f21\u03bc\u1f73\u03c1\u1fb3 \u03c4\u03bf\u1fe6 \u03ba\u03c5\u03c1\u03af\u03bf\u03c5<\/span> (<strong>1Co 1:8, 1Co 5:5, 2Co 1:14, 2Th 2:2<\/strong>) ou\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u1f21\u03bc\u1f73\u03c1\u1fb3 \u03ba\u03c5\u03c1\u03af\u03bf\u03c5<\/span> (<strong>1Th 5.2, 2Pe 3.10<\/strong>). La supplique \u00ab\u00a0notre Seigneur (J\u00e9sus), viens !\u00a0\u00bb (<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u1f14\u03c1\u03c7\u03bf\u03c5 \u03ba\u03cd\u03c1\u03b9\u03b5 \u0399\u03b7\u03c3\u03bf\u1fe6\/\u03bc\u03b1\u03c1\u1f71\u03bd\u03b1 \u03b8\u1f71<\/span>) s&rsquo;inscrivait ainsi dans l&rsquo;ardente attente de \u00ab\u00a0ce jour-l\u00e0\u00a0\u00bb, en appelant de ses v\u0153ux le retour du Christ (<strong>1Co 16.22, Rev 22:20<\/strong> ; cf. <strong>1Co 11.26<\/strong>, <strong>Didach\u00e8 10.6<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\u00a0 \u00a0On le voit, les expressions pour qualifier cette esp\u00e9rance fervente ne manquaient pas, et sans doute faut-il les comprendre \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re de <strong>Rom 2.16<\/strong> :\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u1f10\u03bd \u1f21\u03bc\u1f73\u03c1\u1fb3 \u1f45\u03c4\u03b5 \u03ba\u03c1\u03af\u03bd\u03b5\u03b9 \u1f41 \u03b8\u03b5\u1f78\u03c2&#8230; \u03b4\u03b9\u1f70 \u03a7\u03c1\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u1fe6 \u0399\u03b7\u03c3\u03bf\u1fe6<\/span>, \u00ab\u00a0au jour o\u00f9 Dieu jugera&#8230; par le moyen de Christ J\u00e9sus\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\u00a0 \u00a0Gardons ces expressions \u00e0 l&rsquo;esprit et consid\u00e9rons une expression quelque peu surprenante en <strong>Rev 1.10<\/strong>\u00a0:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"justify\">\u1f10\u03b3\u03b5\u03bd\u1f79\u03bc\u03b7\u03bd \u1f10\u03bd \u03c0\u03bd\u03b5\u03cd\u03bc\u03b1\u03c4\u03b9 <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u1f10\u03bd \u03c4\u1fc7 \u03ba\u03c5\u03c1\u03b9\u03b1\u03ba\u1fc7 \u1f21\u03bc\u1f73\u03c1\u1fb3<\/span> \u03ba\u03b1\u1f76 \u1f24\u03ba\u03bf\u03c5\u03c3\u03b1 \u1f40\u03c0\u03af\u03c3\u03c9 \u03bc\u03bf\u03c5 \u03c6\u03c9\u03bd\u1f74\u03bd \u03bc\u03b5\u03b3\u1f71\u03bb\u03b7\u03bd \u1f61\u03c2 \u03c3\u1f71\u03bb\u03c0\u03b9\u03b3\u03b3\u03bf\u03c2<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><em>je fus ravi en esprit <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">durant le jour du Seigneur<\/span>, et j&rsquo;entendis devant moi une voie forte, comme celle d&rsquo;une trompette<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"justify\">La plupart des traductions, soit en note, soit au sein m\u00eame de la traduction, sugg\u00e8rent que ce \u00ab\u00a0jour du Seigneur\u00a0\u00bb d\u00e9signe le jour <em>seigneurial<\/em> ou <em>dominical<\/em>, autrement dit le dimanche. De prime abord, c&rsquo;est tout \u00e0 fait surprenant, et je dirais m\u00eame plus, parfaitement incongru : Jean d\u00e9buterait-il le livre de la r\u00e9v\u00e9lation de J\u00e9sus-Christ par une indication temporelle aussi triviale ?<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Il est vrai que l&rsquo;adjectif \u03ba\u03c5\u03c1\u03b9\u03b1\u03ba\u1f79\u03c2 peut d\u00e9signer le dimanche. Du moins c&rsquo;est ce qu&rsquo;on d\u00e9duit de son usage passablement ult\u00e9rieur, notamment en <strong>Didach\u00e8 14.1 <\/strong>(voir aussi le <strong>P.Oxy.54.3759 l.38<\/strong>, dat\u00e9 de 325, pour la premi\u00e8re r\u00e9f\u00e9rence explicite au dimanche dans les papyri, ainsi que la discussion dans <strong>NDIEC 9.109-111<\/strong>). On sait aussi que ce premier jour de la semaine a \u00e9t\u00e9 pris\u00e9, en mati\u00e8re cultuelle, par les premiers chr\u00e9tiens (<strong>1Co 16.2<\/strong>, cf.<strong> Joh 20.1 <\/strong>; voir <a href=\"https:\/\/www.academia.edu\/12984647\/The_Use_of_Sunday_for_Meetings_of_Believers_in_the_New_Testament\">Llewelyn 2001<\/a> vs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jstor.org\/stable\/1561012?seq=1#page_scan_tab_contents\">Young 2003<\/a>). Son usage dans le Nouveau Testament n&rsquo;est pas tr\u00e8s \u00e9clairant, car hormis notre <em>locus<\/em>, son seul autre emploi d\u00e9signe le \u00ab\u00a0repas du Seigneur\u00a0\u00bb (<span id=\"mot94470\" data-morph=\"adjectif normal accusatif neutre singulier aucun \" data-version=\"NA2\" data-strong=\"G2960\" data-lemme=\"\u03ba\u03c5\u03c1\u03b9\u03b1\u03ba\u1f79\u03c2\" data-def=\"du Seigneur\">\u03ba\u03c5\u03c1\u03b9\u03b1\u03ba\u1f78\u03bd<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"mot94471\" data-morph=\"nom accusatif neutre singulier (nom commun) \" data-version=\"NA2\" data-strong=\"G1173\" data-lemme=\"\u03b4\u03b5\u1fd6\u03c0\u03bd\u03bf\u03bd\" data-def=\"souper\">\u03b4\u03b5\u1fd6\u03c0\u03bd\u03bf\u03bd<\/span>) en <strong>1Co 11.20 <\/strong>(ce qu&rsquo;on peut rapprocher de <strong>1Co 10.21<\/strong>,\u00a0\u03c0\u03bf\u03c4\u03ae\u03c1\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd \u03ba\u03c5\u03c1\u03af\u03bf\u03c5, et <strong>1Co 11.27<\/strong>, \u03c0\u03bf\u03c4\u03ae\u03c1\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd \u03c4\u03bf\u1fe6 \u03ba\u03c5\u03c1\u03af\u03bf\u03c5, en faveur de l&rsquo;\u00e9quation \u03ba\u03c5\u03c1\u03b9\u03b1\u03ba\u1f79\u03c2 = \u03c4\u03bf\u1fe6 \u03ba\u03c5\u03c1\u03af\u03bf\u03c5).<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Les biblistes font g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement valoir le raisonnement suivant :<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"justify\">lorsque l&rsquo;ap\u00f4tre Jean dans l&rsquo;Apocalypse d\u00e9clare qu&rsquo;il a \u00e9t\u00e9 ravi en esprit au jour du Seigneur (litt\u00e9ralement : au jour dominical), il faut aussi sans doute allusion au dimanche <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">(2)<\/span> -&gt; <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">2.<\/span> Ap. 1.10. Lorsqu&rsquo;il est question de l\u2019av\u00e8nement de J\u00e9sus-Christ, ce n&rsquo;est jamais l&rsquo;adjectif dominical qui est employ\u00e9. A peine vingt ans apr\u00e8s la r\u00e9daction de l&rsquo;Apocalypse, Ignace d&rsquo;Antioche \u00e9crivait : &lsquo;Ne sabbatisant plus, mais vivant selon le (jour) dominical dans lequel aussi notre vie s&rsquo;est lev\u00e9e (Ignace, <em>\u00c9p. aux Magn\u00e9siens<\/em> 9.1) &#8211; J.M. Nicole, <em>Pr\u00e9cis de doctrine chr\u00e9tienne<\/em>, Institut Biblique de Nogent, 1983, p.262<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"justify\">Ces arguments sont recevables. On peut ajouter les suivants :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\">L&rsquo;intervalle de temps qui s\u00e9pare l&rsquo;usage johannique d&rsquo;une r\u00e9f\u00e9rence claire au dimanche par des auteurs chr\u00e9tiens est plut\u00f4t mince pour envisager une \u00e9volution s\u00e9mantique significative (cf. par ex. <strong>Ignace, <em>Aux Magn\u00e9siens<\/em> 9.1<\/strong>,\u00a0<b>Justin, <\/b><em style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Premi\u00e8re Apologie<\/em><b> 1.67, \u00c9vangile\u00a0de Pierre 35 et 50 <\/b>[c.150 AD]<b>, Tertullien, <\/b><em style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Ad Nationes<\/em><b> 1.13<\/b>, et les diff\u00e9rents t\u00e9moignages d&rsquo;<strong>Eus\u00e8be<\/strong>,<strong> <em>HE<\/em> III 27.5,11, IV 26.2, V 23.2, 24.11<\/strong> ; cf. <a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.fr\/books?id=Nh-QBAAAQBAJ&amp;printsec=frontcover&amp;hl=fr#v=onepage&amp;q&amp;f=false\">Brattston 2014<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/details\/p1dictionnairedarc04lecl\/page\/n439\">DALC 4.1<\/a>).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\">Une expression parall\u00e8le \u00e0 <strong>Rev 1.10<\/strong> se trouve en <strong>Rev 4.2<\/strong> :\u00a0<strong>\u0395\u1f50\u03b8\u1f73\u03c9\u03c2<\/strong> \u1f10\u03b3\u03b5\u03bd\u1f79\u03bc\u03b7\u03bd \u1f10\u03bd \u03c0\u03bd\u03b5\u03cd\u03bc\u03b1\u03c4\u03b9&#8230; \u00ab\u00a0<strong>Aussit\u00f4t<\/strong> je fus ravi en esprit&#8230;\u00a0\u00bb. L&rsquo;indication temporelle marqu\u00e9e par l&rsquo;adverbe \u03b5\u1f50\u03b8\u1f73\u03c9\u03c2 montre que la temporalit\u00e9 concerne le moment du ravissement et non le moment de la vision (cf. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.academia.edu\/12984647\/The_Use_of_Sunday_for_Meetings_of_Believers_in_the_New_Testament\">Llewelyn 2001 : 222<\/a>). Deux autres mentions de\u00a0\u03b3\u03af\u03bd\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9 + indication temporelle sugg\u00e8rent de m\u00eame une temporalit\u00e9 contemporaine (<strong>Rev 8.1, Rev 11.13<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\">Inscriptions et papyri s&rsquo;accordent \u00e0 donner au terme\u00a0\u03ba\u03c5\u03c1\u03b9\u03b1\u03ba\u1f79\u03c2 le sens \u00ab\u00a0imp\u00e9rial\u00a0\u00bb, ou \u00ab\u00a0relatif \u00e0 l&#8217;empereur\u00a0\u00bb, en particulier dans les domaines de l&rsquo;imp\u00f4t et du culte imp\u00e9rial ; le jour imp\u00e9rial (\u03c3\u03b5\u03b2\u03b1\u03c3\u03c4\u1f79\u03c2 et parfois \u03ba\u03c5\u03c1\u03b9\u03b1\u03ba\u1f79\u03c2) \u00e9tait le premier jour de chaque mois particuli\u00e8rement d\u00e9di\u00e9 au culte de l&#8217;empereur\u00a0; il est ainsi possible que les premiers chr\u00e9tiens, y compris Jean, aient volontairement fait usage de l&rsquo;adjectif\u00a0\u03ba\u03c5\u03c1\u03b9\u03b1\u03ba\u1f79\u03c2 pour d\u00e9signer un jour consacr\u00e9 au seul et v\u00e9ritable Seigneur (cf. <strong>1Co 16.1<\/strong>\u00a0; voir\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/details\/biblestudiescont00deisuoft\/page\/216\"><strong>Deissmann<\/strong>, <em>Bible Studies<\/em>, pp.217-219<\/a>,\u00a0<strong>Spicq, LTNT 856-858, Kuen, EDB IV 28-29<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"justify\">\u00a0 \u00a0Il n&rsquo;en demeure pas moins la difficult\u00e9 initiale, qu&rsquo;il ne faudrait pas minimiser : Jean d\u00e9crit dans son livre la \u00ab\u00a0r\u00e9v\u00e9lation de J\u00e9sus-Christ&#8230; pour montrer&#8230;\u00a0<strong>les choses qui doivent arriver bient\u00f4t<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb (\u0391\u03c0\u03bf\u03ba\u1f71\u03bb\u03c5\u03c8\u03b9\u03c2 \u0399\u03b7\u03c3\u03bf\u1fe6 \u03a7\u03c1\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u1fe6&#8230;\u00a0\u03b4\u03b5\u1fd6\u03be\u03b1\u03b9&#8230;\u00a0<strong><span id=\"mot128182\" data-morph=\"pronom relatif accusatif neutre pluriel \" data-version=\"NA27\" data-strong=\"G3739\" data-lemme=\"\u1f45\u03c2\" data-def=\"qui\">\u1f02<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"mot128183\" data-morph=\"verbe indicatif pr\u00e9sent actif 3\u00e8me personne singulier \" data-version=\"NA27\" data-strong=\"G1163\" data-lemme=\"\u03b4\u03b5\u1fd6\" data-def=\"il convient\">\u03b4\u03b5\u1fd6<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><span id=\"mot128184\" data-morph=\"verbe infinitif aoriste moyen \" data-version=\"NA27\" data-strong=\"G1096\" data-lemme=\"\u03b3\u03af\u03bd\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9\" data-def=\"devenir\"><strong>\u03b3\u03b5\u03bd\u1f73\u03c3\u03b8\u03b1\u03b9\u00a0\u1f10\u03bd \u03c4\u1f71\u03c7\u03b5\u03b9<\/strong>, <strong>Rev 1.1, <\/strong>idem<strong>\u00a0Rev 22.6<\/strong>).
